The team here at beeps has come a long way in reimagining on-call. Our goal of creating a modern on-call platform wouldn’t be possible without the amazing engineers that are working behind the scenes to perfect our product.  While our mission is underway, we wanted to take some time to highlight the individuals that are building beeps from the ground up.

Introducing Anokhi:

I’m a software engineer here at beeps and currently based in the Bay Area! When I’m not beep-booping I enjoy doing a lot of legos and art:) Also, a super random skill I have is being able to walk on my hands!

Why beeps?

I love working at beeps for many reasons, one being the excitement of being a part of a team that's building the future of on-call as we know it! I get to dive into interesting and challenging projects while constantly learning and growing along the way. Additionally, the team here at beeps is made up of incredibly wonderful, talented, and supportive individuals who have made working here a pleasure. Working at beeps has been a fantastic experience and I’m truly proud to be contributing to its success!

What’s your prediction for the future of on-call?

I predict that the future of on-call will be heavily reliant on AI and a better understanding of user pain points. AI will likely transform how we handle on-call by predicting issues before they escalate and providing smart solutions in real-time. This means fewer late-night emergencies for engineers and a more proactive approach to system maintenance. Additionally, services will become more attuned to the challenges we face, such as the stress of being on-call 24/7 and the need for better work-life balance. By leveraging AI to manage routine tasks and triage incidents, the on-call experience will become more manageable and less disruptive. Integrating AI-driven tools within platforms like Slack will also enhance our ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently, making on-call work smoother. This evolution will not only improve the technical aspects of on-call but also address the human element, ensuring that engineers feel supported and less overwhelmed.

Describe your coding style/personality using only one word

If I were to describe my coding style in one word it would be curious.

I often find myself curious to understand how everything works and this allows me to delve into the intricacies of each challenge I face, ensuring I address issues from multiple angles. My curiosity allows me to contribute in a way that is impactful and I’m always striving to get to the heart of every problem.

Do you have any secret talents?

While my main focus is on coding, I've also developed a talent for art - particularly drawing and painting. I’ve been very involved in art since my childhood and it quickly grew into a passion. From this passion, I’ve always strived to be creative in everything I do, especially frontend projects, which I feel is a perfect intersection of art and technology. I love creating beautiful UIs and take great satisfaction in bringing designs to life, whether it be through a typescript file or a painting! Although I don't always highlight this skill, art is a significant part of my life and a source of great personal fulfillment.

Here’s one of my paintings:

If you weren’t an engineer, what career path would you have pursued?

If I wasn’t a software engineer, I would maybe consider pursuing a career in animation! Animation is a perfect intersection of art and technology, similarly to frontend engineering, so it has always been something I have enjoyed. The ability of animation to bring characters and stories to life through a combination of beautiful art and sophisticated technology is incredible, and often feels more impactful than non-animated media to me. Even as I focus on coding, animation remains a subject of fascination and interest for me!
