The team here at beeps has come a long way in reimagining on-call. Our goal of creating a modern on-call platform wouldn’t be possible without the amazing engineers that are working behind the scenes to perfect our product. While our mission is underway, we wanted to take some time to highlight the individuals that are building beeps from the ground up.
Introducing Kétlin:
Hey hey! I'm a developer at heart, based in Rio de Janeiro, and have a passion for technology in general. I'm always listening to music (helps me focus while coding), reading, and drawing (or trying to). I love to cycle, swim, and have been a gamer since I can remember.
How did you get started in your field?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved messing around with computers. I used to spend every possible free moment gaming, studying, and browsing. As soon as I discovered that this could be a potential career option, there was no doubt in my mind about what I was going to pursue in the future.
Why beeps?
Joey reached out to me when he was still searching for the first developers. Building a product from scratch, with the opportunity to see it grow (both in terms of the product and the technology), is one of my favorite aspects of working in development. Joey's vision and determination to improve the on-call space really caught my attention and inspired me to contribute to improving this area.
What’s your favorite part about working on a remote team?
Definitely the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world. Here at beeps, we have colleagues spread across the globe—people I probably would have never crossed paths with if it weren't for the chance to work on a remote team. Every day, I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from these people and their diverse cultures.
What’s your all-time favorite meme?
Honestly, I don’t have an all-time favorite meme, just the one that resonates with me the most at the moment. And right now, that’s definitely Peepo, the frog used in Discord/Slack reactions. There’s always a different Peepo emoji depending on the message you want to convey—honestly, if it were possible, I would communicate entirely through Peepo reactions.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? How did it impact your life?
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is to always surround yourself with people who are smarter than you and bring different perspectives. I realized the importance of this here at beeps, where I have the opportunity to learn from my colleagues every day. The growth I’ve experienced, both as a developer and as a person, compared to a year ago (when I first joined the company), is truly invaluable.
