The team here at beeps has come a long way in reimagining on-call. Our goal of creating a modern on-call platform wouldn’t be possible without the amazing engineers that are working behind the scenes to perfect our product. While our mission is underway, we wanted to take some time to highlight the individuals that are building beeps from the ground up.
Introducing Zinnia:
Hi there! I’m a software engineer based out of North Carolina, working with beeps to develop innovative tech solutions. Working from Tar Heel State, I’m passionate about beep booping and love being a feral forest goblin exploring the great outdoors in my free time.
Why beeps?
I chose beeps because its vibrant company culture and dedication to pushing boundaries in technology truly resonate with me. The collaborative and forward-thinking environment here fosters creativity and continuous learning, which aligns perfectly with my own values. Moreover, the potential of beeps to improve the hellscape bummer that is on-call was a major draw for me, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of groundbreaking work.
What’s your favorite part about working on a remote team?
One of my favorite aspects of working on a remote team is the flexibility it offers. Being able to set my own schedule and work from various locations allows me to balance work and personal life more effectively. It also provides the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people from different regions, bringing a variety of perspectives and ideas to the table.
Remote work often fosters a sense of autonomy and trust, as team members are generally more self-motivated and responsible for their own tasks. This environment encourages more focused and efficient work, which ultimately contributes to a more productive and innovative team dynamic.
Describe your coding style/personality using only one word
Collaborative
I describe my coding style as collaborative because I thrive on working closely with others to achieve shared goals. I actively seek input from teammates, value diverse perspectives, and believe that the best solutions often come from collective brainstorming and feedback.
Editor's note: Zinnia has an impressive track record of receiving appreciation in our weekly meetings for her exceptional expert pairing and effective rubber ducking.
Do you have any secret talents?
I can cry on sight of any dog.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? How did it impact your life?
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is to “embrace failure as a learning opportunity.” This advice has profoundly impacted my approach to both work and personal growth. Rather than fearing mistakes or setbacks, I’ve learned to view them as valuable experiences that offer insights and opportunities for improvement.
This mindset shift has made me more resilient and open to experimenting with new ideas, knowing that failure is not a reflection of my abilities but a stepping stone to success. It has encouraged me to take calculated risks and continuously evolve, ultimately leading to greater innovation and personal development.
